This premise is not accurate. Slavery was widespread and economically significant in both Han China and Rome. In fact, slavery was a central feature of ancient societies across much of the world. While there were certainly variations in the nature and extent of slavery in different societies, it would not be accurate to say that slavery was less important in Han China than Rome.
