Who got gt road constructed for the first time?

The Grand Trunk Road, also called the Grand Trunk Highway or the Great Highway, is a network of roads in South and Southeast Asia. The road was first built by the Maurya Empire in the 3rd century BC, and was later expanded by the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. The Marathas and the British Raj also made additions and improvements to the road. The modern-day Grand Trunk Road is a major transportation artery, connecting countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
