History of North America

How long did the slave trade last?

The transatlantic slave trade lasted for over 300 years, beginning in the 15th century and ending in the 19th century. During this time, millions of African men, women, and children were forcibly taken from their homes in Africa and transported across the Atlantic Ocean to be sold into slavery in the Americas. The slave trade was a major part of the triangular trade, which was a system of trade that involved Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
