History of Europe

Potion to kill Christians.

The Jewish people have been victims, over the years, of abuses, massacres, injustices... If the Nazi holocaust quickly comes to mind, due to its temporal proximity and multiple testimonies, it is no less true that there are many other acts, Less known, but equally or more horrifying.

They have been accused of killing Christ, of being responsible for the plague, of committing ritual crimes... and of trying to poison Christians .

We are going to move to the France of the fourteenth century, specifically to the year 1321, where it is "discovered" that the lepers had planned to poison the water of fountains and wells. The lepers began to be burned and one of them, before his imminent death, confesses that they have been paid by the Jews to finish off the Christians. With no more proof than this "alleged confession" the hunt for the Jew begins, those who are luckier are expelled... others would be killed or burned.

The alleged poison used to "kill Christians" would be composed of human blood, urine, consecrated host and some herbs, all dried, reduced to powder and placed in bags fitted with weights to sink.

The consequences of this "plot" were the definitive expulsion of the Jews from France in 1323 by Charles IV and the extermination of lepers. In my land they call it «killing two birds with one stone «.
