Turning wheat into gold, patent number 14,204

We already talked about Hennig Brand at the time. , a German merchant who was enabled by his wife's dowry to devote his time to the noble art of alchemy to get gold by distilling urine… in the end he discovered phosphorus. Today we return to the fray with another enlightened who intended to turn wheat into gold... and registered the patent .

British Patent No. 14,204 issued on October 27, 1884 to Harry Fell to turn wheat into gold. The method in question is something like this:

Make a mixture of wheat grains and chopped straw, half and half, and let it macerate in water for 10 hours at a temperature of 59º F (15º C). After 10 hours, strain the mixture and let it rest in a shallow clay pot for 24 hours at a temperature of 60º (15.5º C). After that time, the film that covers the liquid... was gold .

Let you know that I am already in the process of letting the mixture rest… I have 12 hours left. If I don't write anything tomorrow, don't look for me.
