Were the hittites first indo -European people to make use of iron?

The Hittites were not the first Indo-European people to make use of iron. The earliest evidence of ironworking in the Near East dates back to the 4th millennium BC in Anatolia, where the Hittites lived. However, the first Indo-European people to make use of iron were the Mitanni people, who lived in northern Syria and southeastern Anatolia.
