History of Europe

What does the modern world describe as government following Republic?

The modern world generally describes government after the Republic as Imperial.

After the fall of the Roman Republic in 27 BC, the Roman Empire was established with the rule of Augustus Caesar as its first emperor. The empire lasted until the 5th century AD, when it was divided into the Western and Eastern Roman Empires. The Western Empire collapsed in the 5th century, while the Eastern Empire, known as the Byzantine Empire, survived until the 15th century.
