What did Europe have to do with World War 2?

Europe and Europeans were heavily involved in World War II on all sides between 1939 and 1945. European involvement in the second World War began with Hitler's invasion of Poland, a European nation bordering Germany. Europe also experienced some of the most disastrous fighting that came as a result of this war with millions of lives lost due to fighting, occupation, genocide, and concentration camps and death marches.
