Why did Henry VIII destroy Thomas tomb?

There is no evidence to suggest that Henry VIII destroyed Thomas Becket's tomb. In fact, Henry VIII initially venerated Becket, hoping that his relics would bring him good luck, and he even visited his tomb in Canterbury in 1520. However, Henry VIII's relationship with the Catholic Church deteriorated in the 1530s, and he eventually broke away from Rome and declared himself the head of the Church of England. In 1538, Henry VIII ordered the dissolution of the monasteries, and Becket's tomb was desecrated and his relics were destroyed.
