How did Italy betray Germany and Austria in World War 1?

Italy never betrayed Germany and Austria during World War 1 but instead joined forces with them as part of the Triple Alliance. However, Italy eventually defected from its allies and joined the Allies (Entente Powers) in 1915, after declaring war on Austria-Hungary. This decision was primarily motivated by territorial ambitions, as Italy sought to gain control of territories that were promised to it under the secret Treaty of London, signed in 1915.
