What soviet leaders was associated with perestroika?

Mikhail Gorbachev was the Soviet leader associated with perestroika. He introduced perestroika in the mid-1980s as part of a broader program of economic and political reform. The goal of perestroika was to decentralize the Soviet economy and introduce market-oriented reforms in an attempt to revive economic growth and address widespread inefficiencies and corruption. Perestroika also involved a shift towards greater glasnost (openness) and democratization, which allowed for greater freedom of expression, increased transparency in government decision-making, and limited political pluralism.
