Results of the French and Indian War

* Great Britain acquired vast new territories in North America, including all of Canada, the Ohio River Valley, and Florida.

* France gave up all of its mainland North American possessions to Great Britain, except for the small islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

* Native American tribes allied with France were defeated, and the British now controlled much of the eastern portion of North America.

* The war increased tensions between Great Britain and the American colonies, who resented the British government's policies and taxes.

* The war's financial burden helped lead to the American Revolution, as the British government tried to recoup its war costs by taxing the colonies.
