2. Reformed the Roman calendar. The Julian calendar, which was introduced by Caesar in 46 BC, was a major improvement over the previous Roman calendar. It was more accurate and easier to use, and it is still used today (with some modifications) in many parts of the world.
3. Created the first permanent Roman fire department. Caesar's fire department consisted of 600 slaves who were trained to fight fires. This was a major innovation in firefighting, as it was the first time that a city had a dedicated team of firefighters.
