History of Europe

Where did vikings live in Denmark?

Vikings lived in what is now known as Denmark from around 800 to 1050 AD. Their settlements were mainly located in the more fertile areas of the country, such as the islands and the Jutland peninsula. The most important centres were Hedeby, Ribe, and Aarhus, which were all major trading centres. Vikings also established settlements in other parts of Scandinavia, as well as in England, Ireland, and the Faroe Islands.
