Which route did allied forces use to cross into france?

The D-Day invasion, code-named Operation Overlord, commenced in June 1944 with a large amphibious landing and aerial drops followed by a campaign to capture the port city of Cherbourg. It was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The Allies attacked a 50-mile (80 km) stretch of the Normandy coast divided into five sectors, with the US forces landing at Utah and Omaha Beaches, the British at Gold and Sword, and the Canadians at Juno Beach. The landings in Normandy were preceded by comprehensive operations designed to mislead the Germans about the invasion's true location.
