When Jinnah was holding a meeting in the hotel, some people opposed the partition. Militant Muslims, radical mullahs from different provinces and powerful landowners troubled by the damage caused by the partition of Punjab had different intentions. These people gathered outside the meeting hall and started expressing their anger against the partition plan. Among these elements were the big businessmen who were agitated at the thought of leaving Calcutta in the hands of their Hindu rivals.

These people 'We have been cheated' And 'Big bad happened to Pakistan' started saying. The crowd of Khaksars trampled the quiet garden of the hotel and waved belches ..... 'Kill Jinnah' Shouting entered the hotel lounge. Halfway up the stairs leading to the meeting hall, the League's National Guard stopped him and pushed him back by force. Some people even managed to enter the meeting hall but were immediately evicted.

Jinnah kept meeting them regardless. There was a scuffle between the National Guards and the Khaksars even on the highest floor of the hotel. Furniture was broken, windows were broken…… Some people also got wounds. The police had to use tear gas, then somewhere the commotion calmed down.

Rehmat Ali accused Jinnah of treason

When the Muslim League accepted the plan of partition of India in which Pakistan was deprived of half Bengal, half Punjab and the rest of Assam except Sylhet district, the Pakistan National Movement of Rahmat Ali based in Cambridge accused Jinnah of betraying the community. -

'Mr. Jinnah has made a deal with the entire Millat by betraying him completely and has broken him to pieces. His action to accept the British plan has shattered the foundations of all the countries and nations of the millennium.

The ten crore members living in the continent of Diniya (India) have been murdered with the will. …… If this decision is not revoked, it will permanently handicap the life of the Pakistani nation, the existence of milat in the world will wither away and the freedom of the Biradaran-e-Islam all over the world will be at risk. …..we will continue this struggle till the end.

….. We will neither leave the field nor lay down arms. We will never be blamed that when it came to choosing between fighting the biggest war for Millat and the biggest traitor, we too chose the traitor following in the footsteps of the Quizzlings. …… Millat Zindabad. '

Fight between Liaquat Ali and Jawaharlal Nehru

The first meeting of the Cabinet of the Interim Government took place on 12 June after the announcement of partition by the Viceroy. In this meeting, Liaquat Ali criticized Jawaharlal Nehru on India's decision to be appointed ambassador to England because Nehru had appointed his sister Vijayalakshmi Pandit on it. Jawaharlal also opposed Liaquat Ali.

In the cabinet meeting, there was such a heated argument between the two that Mountbatten shouted- 'Great Excellencies! If the outcome of this first discussion is coming out in such an ugly scene, then how can we hope for a peaceful partition?' After this the talk between Jawaharlal Nehru and Jinnah stopped and it remained closed until both the leaders became the Prime Ministers of two different countries.
