Historical National Movement of Himachal Pradesh

The establishment of the Indian National Congress in 1885 AD was planned by Hramu sitting in Shimla.
The first Congress procession led by Mahatma Gandhi was taken out from Mall Road in Shimla.
Raja Pratap Chand of Kangra, Pratap Singh, son of former Raja Kishan Singh of Kullu, and Naresh Shamsher Singh of Rampur resolved to carry forward the national independence movement. These kings increased contact with the freedom-loving revolutionaries of the country.
In 1914-15 AD, there was a steady increase in the power and power of the revolutionaries in the hill states. Chief among them was the organization of the Ghadar Party.
In May 1921, the first representative organization of the Congress was formed in Shimla. In this, Maulvi Ghulam Muhammad of Shimla Nagar was elected the President of the Congress.
Mahatma Gandhi came to Shimla on May 11, 1921. With the arrival of Gandhiji in Shimla, the attention of the people of this hilly region turned towards the ideology of the national movement.
In 1929, the Congress was reorganized in Shimla and the number of its members also increased. Many agitators from the hill states also came to Shimla and took part in the programs of the Congress.
On 27 February 1930 AD Mahatma Gandhi started the civil disobedience movement in the country. Congress workers from Kangra and Shimla actively participated in this movement. After catching the agitators, the police tortured them in many ways and sent them to jail.
On March 1931, the Viceroy Lord Irwin called Mahatma Gandhi to Shimla for a settlement to resolve the situation arising out of the movement.
On August 26, 1931, Mahatma Gandhi again joined to sign the agreement.
