What is the Vietnam wall?

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a national memorial in Washington, D.C., the United States, designed to honor the men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War. The memorial is located within Constitution Gardens, next to the Lincoln Memorial.

The memorial consists of two black granite walls etched with the names of more than 58,000 American servicemen and women who were killed in Vietnam, as well as those who are missing in action (MIA) from that war. The names are listed alphabetically by last name, and each name is followed by the date of casualty or the notation "MIA".

The memorial also includes statues of three servicemen and a nurse, as well as a plaque that bears the inscription:

>In honor of the men and women of the armed forces of the United States who served in the Vietnam War, and in memory of those who died in service to their country.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 13, 1982, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Washington, D.C. The memorial is open 24 hours a day, and visitors are encouraged to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served in the Vietnam War.
