Kamikaze Aircraft: The Japanese introduced the tactic of using suicide planes, known as kamikaze, to attack enemy ships. These attacks involved pilots intentionally crashing their aircraft into Allied vessels, causing significant damage.
Torpedoes: The Japanese Navy developed highly effective torpedoes during the war. The Type 93 torpedo had an advanced oxygen propulsion system, enabling it to travel longer distances and hit targets more accurately.
Submarines: Japan built advanced submarines, notably the I-400-class submarine. Capable of carrying three small aircraft, this submarine served as a long-range reconnaissance platform and could launch surprise attacks from underwater.
Rocketry: The Japanese military experimented with rocket technology during the war and developed their version of an anti-aircraft rocket, the Type 4 Surface-to-Air Rocket. Although less accurate compared to German counterparts, it was still used in the defense of Japanese territory.
Biological Warfare: During World War 2, the Japanese government conducted experiments in biological warfare and developed bioweapons. Notably, a secret military unit known as Unit 731 undertook a variety of brutal human experiments using Chinese, Korean, and Allied prisoners of war.
