Farmers learned very little from the Articles of Confederation because they held little power under this structure. As small landowners, they had little influence in the central government and were excluded from political participation in many states, which required property ownership to vote. The Articles of Confederation favored wealthy merchants, landowners, and creditors, leaving farmers lacking an effective voice in political and economic matters.
