When did the US become and independent nation?

The United States of America declared its independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Revolutionary War, which started on April 19, 1775, ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, officially recognizing the United States as a sovereign nation. So, the US became independent on July 4, 1776.
