Henry Hudson's main achievement was his exploration of Hudson Bay and the Hudson River in North America. He was an English explorer who made several voyages to North America in search of a Northwest Passage, a sea route to Asia through the Arctic Ocean. Although he did not find the passage, his explorations helped to open up the region for trade and colonization by Europeans.
