History of Europe

Why do you think the French people welcomed Napoleon back so eagerly?

There is no evidence to suggest the French people welcomed Napoleon back eagerly, in fact, much of France was still occupied while Napoleon was returning and even after. His return sparked a number of conflicts throughout France. There was a mix of reactions as some celebrated his return while others were indifferent or even hostile. He was initially welcomed by his supporters and some who saw him as a way to protect their own interests. However, it's important to note that Napoleon's return to power in 1815, known as the Hundred Days, was a brief and tumultuous period that ended with his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. Overall, the French people's reaction to Napoleon's return was complex and varied.
