History of Europe

What did the allies want?

The Allies wanted:

- The unconditional surrender of Germany, Italy, and Japan. This would ensure the war would end on the Allied terms and that the Axis countries would be completely defeated.

- The establishment of a new world order based on the principles of democracy, collective security, and international cooperation. This would prevent the rise of future dictators and ensure that the world was a more peaceful place.

- The punishment of war criminals and the prevention of future aggression. This would ensure that those responsible for the war would be held accountable and that similar atrocities would not be repeated in the future.

- Reparations from Germany and Japan to help with the reconstruction of Europe. Germany and Japan had caused widespread destruction during the war, and the Allies wanted to ensure that they would pay for the damage they had inflicted.
