Did the Native Americans played an important role in growth of French and Dutch settlements?

While Native Americans did have some interactions with French and Dutch settlers, their role in the growth of these settlements was relatively limited compared to the contributions of the European settlers themselves. Native Americans primarily engaged in trade with the new arrivals and taught them valuable survival skills to adapt to the unfamiliar North American environment. However, in terms of shaping overall growth and establishment, it was the strategies and efforts of individual French and Dutch colonists that propelled the development of their settlements.
