The ancient site of Wat Traphang Thong is located on an island in the middle of a pond known as “Traphang Thong” within the Sukhothai city wall. in the area on the east side of the city 250 meters away from the inner city wall.

in the thesis "Visit Muang Phra Ruang" said that it is a temple located on an island surrounded by tanks. There are monks who live in the Buddhist Lent. There is a bell-shaped chedi made of bricks as the president. laterite base brick pagoda There are 8 family chedi that are very dilapidated. His Highness assumed that this temple should not be very old and important. (King Rama VII 1977 :35)

The motto of building a temple on an island surrounded by water that should have a model originated from Lanka. Found another one in the middle of Sukhothai, which is Wat Sa Si. In addition, both temples also have a bell-shaped chedi as the main chedi. Therefore, there should be a motto, form, and construction period related as well (Sakchai Saising 2004 :30).

The bell-shaped chedi is a distinctive feature of the Sukhothai bell-shaped chedi. That is to say, there is a part that is the base of the lotus-inverted lotus, which has 3 bases to support the bell. and there is a throne in the square This is probably the style that was popular in the Sukhothai period. Slowly, it was in the year 1927 by comparison with the chedi of Wat Chang Lom in Sukhothai with an inscription built in that year. Or it might have been before.

The church is located to the west of the stupa. At present, the condition is quite perfect because about 100 years ago Phraya Ronchai Chanyuth (Garut), the old ruler of Sukhothai. who had been ordained as a novice at this temple raised wealth for the construction of the church It was built on the foundation of an old church in the Sukhothai period. (King Rama VII 1977:35; Special Cheachanphong 2003 :17)

The appearance of the chant (thigh), the foot and the hem are similar to the embossed carvings on the gold plates decorated with Phra That Haripunchai. Prof. Dr. Sakchai Saising assumed that they may be related. And if this footprint is one of many that is said to have been built in the Phaya Li Thai period It should be related in terms of form and duration as well (Sakchai Saising 2004 :30-31)
