Sardari battle and Munda rebellion (1858–95 AD, 1895–1901 AD)

The movement of Munda Sardars is popularly known as Sardari Fight. This government movement started from Ranchi and soon spread to Singhbhum. This movement, which started in 1818 AD, flourished under the leadership of Birsa Munda after continuing for 30 years.

The Birsa movement began as a reformist effort. Birsa preached civility of moral conduct, self-improvement and monotheism. He instructed the worship of one God (Singh Boga).

The Christian missionaries took the growing popularity of Birsa as a hostage in the path of their preaching, as a result they were arrested. But he was released in 1897 AD. The movement started in 1818 AD. Beginning to lead the Birsa movement in 1899 AD, attacked Christian missions. Accepting the existence of British power, he ordered his followers not to pay rent to the government.

The government launched a repression cycle against this movement and on March 3, 1920, Birsa was arrested and died of cholera in prison in 1901 AD.
