What does each state retain in a confederation government?

A confederation government is a type of political system in which the central government is relatively weak and the individual states retain most of the power. In a confederation, each state retains its own:

- Sovereignty: Each state is considered to be an independent and sovereign entity, with the right to make its own laws and policies.

- Currency: Each state may issue its own currency.

- National Debt: Each state is responsible for its own national debt.

- Trade Policy: Each state may set its own trade policies, including tariffs and import restrictions.

- Foreign Relations: Each state may conduct its own foreign relations, including making treaties with other countries.
